CU Boulder student-run service
My name is Natalie Juett, and I am a current sophomore at CU Boulder studying economics and political science. During my first semester of sophomore year, I took an Environmental Sustainability and Features course, where I learned about the serious effects of e-waste on our environment when electronics are disposed of improperly.
The facts are striking: the world generates over 50 million metric tons of electronic waste every year, making it the fastest-growing solid waste stream on the planet. When electronics end up in landfills, toxic materials such as lead, mercury, and cadmium leach into the soil and groundwater, posing serious risks to both human health and local ecosystems. At the same time, rare and valuable metals like gold, silver, and cobalt are permanently lost rather than being recovered and reused.
I love our planet, and the goal of this business is to ensure its preservation and environmental safety through the proper disposal of e-waste. At the same time, I am committed to giving back — 5% of profits from every pickup are directed toward customer-chosen charities, so you get to decide where the impact goes. While helping the Earth, I also hope to strengthen the local Boulder community through these donations, and to do my part in making the world a better place.
